I'm in a hole here, voteless. But this was not always the way. My caption - THIS caption - was actually "the leading caption" till I accidentally deleted it. While my caption was "riding high" with seven early votes, it's now languishing in obscurity. Yep, out of respect for you all, I was deleting my worst captions, and I erased the ONE CAPTION that some of you actually liked: 7 votes, right off the bat. Man, THOSE were the hours! Now, I don't know: I'm broke, with captioneers brushing past me, maybe looking for fresher prospects. Or maybe my caption has become "suspect" since it disappeared, and then reappeared. Or is this a case of "the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer": [Score early and score well, or you become marginalized, disenfranchised, with little chance of upward mobility]. I don't need any sympathy votes (and the fact that I'm currently isolated with Covid is irrelevant, too). I enjoyed my time "at the top." Thank you for that. But I would ask that you take a fresh look at my caption today, and judge it - not by "accumulated votes" but by the possible merits of the caption itself. And I promise I'll be more careful in the future: Thank you.
Happening along, I find what has happened - and I have a nasty feeling that I might have been the first to vote for the first incarnation, and now I have lost my finders points! But I shall be magnanimous; although accumulating finders' points has always meant more to me than getting votes for my own captions, which are usually very feeble, I shall vote again, and boost another up the finders' rankings instead of myself. Woe is me!
Molly, I was LOST and now I've been FOUND. Sorry about your "lost finders points." Just know that - today - you've made at least one captioneer...breathe easier.
You won't have lost your votes all together, Cap. Auth. They'll still count in your weekly and all time tally despite the accidental erase. So, even if a few original voters don't revote, those that do will have voted for you twice
I'm not so sure about the Finder's Points, Molly. Chris would need to advise on that one, but I suspect you'll probably still get those earnt (see what I did there) on the original caption if it's any consolation.

You shouldn't worry caption author. If folk liked it before, I'm sure they'll like it later too unless there's been a major change of heart
Or folk think that they've already voted for it before but can't figure out why the voting box isn't highlighted from their end
