Of course they were creamed even though they outnumbered the Brits well over 4 to 1. They failed to carry out their threat to cut off the English bowmen's fingers. A similar outcome occurred at Crecy (Cressy) ;-}
Incidentally ..(you probably already know) the French decreed that all captive English Bowmen would have their two arrow draw fingers cut off!. So the two finger salute was born to snub the threat, show that they were still present .. in active use against them and tell them to "Fuck Off !"
