‘An Incident In An Alternate Luxburry’

Scene Eleven....The Long Journey.

Reg listened with great interest at what Ted had to say....

'You must travel to the Mythical Tibetan Temple Of Great Enlightenment and there you must converse with High Priest 'Barry'. Make a single donation of a small plastic duck for his left shoulder and Barry will guide you towards your ultimate destiny'

Although Reg wondered just where Ted got his crazy info from...and realised that he was probably talking absolute cobblers, he thanked him and left the pup.
Outside, and with no other options available to him, Reg knew that (wild goose chase or not) his next move was to find a suitable duck and then purchase his ticket to Tibet.

In May 2005 Brian Harvey was admitted to hospital in a critical condition after falling under the wheels of his Mercedes-Benz (whilst driving). He subsequently claimed he had dropped his rubber duck and was trying to pick it up.

In response to all three posts about tactical voting:

I asked Chris about a month ago about log-in voting only, but apparently so many of the votes come form outsiders it would mean very few votes. I agree that this should be the case. I also thought that we should scrap the thumbs down sign, but apparently this was sometimes useful

I havent seen the recent tactical voting because I haven't been around much recently, but it has always been a problem. My computer doesn't log off my acocunt so I can't vote for myself.

In response to Christionion, the algorithm often misinterprets votes and if someone else really likes your captions, you can be voted down for it.

Finally, if tactical voting is detected, is there a way that the points lost, that our weekly score changes, as if someone tactical votes, our weekly score isn't altered

I better shut up now...

Ryan

In response to Ron:

Tactical voting is tedious, but hey, life's too short to get very worked up about it. I like the 'log in to vote' idea though. There's already been much discussion about the optimal voting system on the tips pages. Maybe that's a better forum for this kind of chat. Oh wait, hang on. Maybe I'm being a hypocrite...

Well, while I'm at it can I ask Beachy:

I'm confused about the algorithm. On my profile it says 3 votes were lost this week after tactical voting was removed. It says this kind of thing frequently. You can see it on other people's profiles too. I'm no tactical voter. Are you sure your magic program is getting it right?

OK. I'll shut up now.
