At one time I had a sign in my kitchen proclaiming "Dinner will be served at the sound of the smoke alarm".
The smoke alarm would go off whenever we turned on the toaster. However, the one time there was a real fire, the thick, black, greasy smoke stayed low and didn't reach the ceiling, so the smoke alarm didn't go off!
Our smoke alarm goes off when my missus makes a salad.
Hope she wasn't looking over your shoulder stone face! Or is this your way of getting a chippy tea?
