We once stayed in a hotel in Guernsey in room 8 and were kept awake all night by ghostly goings-on, including the locked door that kept opening on its own. When we reported it to the owner next morning, he was dumbstruck: he had been having trouble with room 8 for years and had it exorcised several times. However, he had recently had a refurb and re-numbered the rooms. The original room 8 was now peaceful but our spirit friend had apparently taken up residence in the NEW room 8.
